When temps rose upwards of 95 degrees in LA this past week, I headed someplace even hotter. In the middle of Mojave desert, just outside of Palm Springs proper, is La Quinta, California– home of the legendary La Quinta Resort & Club (not to be confused with the chain of the same name.) Tucked beneath the mesmerizing Santa Rosa Mountains, it’s one of my absolute favorite hotels and places to visit. With over 45 acres and it’s own village, there’s never a reason to leave.
And that makes it the perfect spot for a creative retreat.
So this past week, I spent my time in a desert paradise, getting inspired and tackling some creative projects I’d put on hold. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the day to day of business and work. A creative retreat sets aside the necessary time to indulge in the fun, creative aspects of my job– from sketching and imagining new designs and collections, to brainstorming new projects and concepts. A desert getaway paired with unlimited time to indulge in creativity and get inspired, is my idea of the perfect vacation.
To combat the 100+ degree weather, I paired the “Deja” dress from ‘Laine by Lauren Elaine’ collection with an oversized chambray button down that I’ve claimed from my husband’s wardrobe:) Natural fabrics like cottons, rayons, and silks fair best in hot temps because they’re breathable. The colorful tie-dye pattern on the Deja also felt right at home with La Quinta’s colorfully lush landscape. SHOP DEJA here.
