Over the past couple years, my husband’s discovered a passion (and hidden talent!) for cooking. Much like design, cooking is another creative outlet. He loves putting together special menus and pairings for holiday meals and celebrations –and since we moved into our new home, I’ve become relatively obsessed with creating unique tablscapes to compliment the event and menu (see a peek at our New Year’s Eve celebration here.) Inspired by way too many chef shows and netflix cooking docs, we’ve named our ‘pop-up’ restaurant Pöwell Hâus (a play on his last name and heritage), and about once a month we try to make a special date night or host a dinner party for friends or family- with a memorable menu and experience… that lasts for #SoMuchMoreThanOneDay.
For this Valentine’s Day, I requested a mermaid-inspired Powell Haus menu. And for the Valentine’s Day theme, I created a blushing candlelit tablescape with my favorite flowers (always on display at our Style House) — Gladiolus!
Here’s a look at the ‘under the sea’ menu (also full video story in my IG highlights.) And for the prettiest, tastiest, and easiest dessert idea, see below!
Dessert DIY: Create a sparkling surprise for guests by topping any berry sorbet with prosecco and complementing berries! Easy, pretty, and my favorite (the husband took it to the next level by adding a sugared “coral reef” for the occasion!)
