This fall I had the honor of designing my new sister-in-law’s bridal gown for her October 12th wedding in Morro Bay, California (pics and post coming soon!) During one of her fittings, she mentioned that she wanted to incorporate material and lace from her grandmother’s 1930s vintage wedding gown into her ensemble. She asked if I had any ideas? While we originally brainstormed a one-of-kind heirloom garter, after seeing the gown for the first time, I suggested a restoration project to create a very special rehearsal dress from her grandmothers vintage gown. The inspiration was something bohemian, feminine, and appropriate for her seaside venue and semi-casual rehearsal dinner. The entire new dress is made solely from the materials and fabric of her grandmother’s gown. Here’s a look at the before and after:
